The XS Platform - BEYOND THE BOX
From initial concept, Beyond War has been engineered to support a unified persistant
online environment that would permit users on Windows, Macintosh, Linux, and console
systems to interact in the same world. (1996 M2OS Project Overview)
This unified architecture provides the largest client user base with expanded capability of new hardware never before seen in online gaming architecture (1999). Granted over 40 years of computer and networking experience, the lead developers of Beyond War foresee a great convergence of computing products across hardware that will permit clients to share games like fans share the comradery of sports and world events. (2003) Beyond War supports its own proprietary messaging protocol with security and broadcasting features for massive multiplayer online video and audio services, free without additional fees, by virtue of peer-to-peer networking with secure-3-way-trust. Language translation and Revox™ technology permit hearing speakers of the same language as 'alien voices' until characters learn to decode or speak the language (2004). Efforts to imitate and duplicate the service have been unsuccessful. (2005) |
On Mature Games (Rated "OMG")
This is War. The Beyond War service does not intend to tie itself to the choking
grade-school standards ESRB-rated services adhere to for market distribution
censorship. Beyond War is a 'Mature Themes" game (M for Mature), and all players
are REQUIRED to be 18 years of age or older to purchase or participate. (2002)
Terms of Service include prohibitions against abuse and personal offline threat but clearly permit and allow in-character to-character language and communication that is strictly prohibited and utterly impossible in other 'Massive Online' games. All content submitted in use of the game remains the property of the service, and subject to release at their discretion. (2003) The Beyond War Universe is the street of the online world - open to all who pass by and subject to the standards of a tense negotiating table. All we require is that you remain civil in your language and propositions - as illustrated and deemed fit solely by the administration of the service. Consider the environment one of a friendly pub on the edge of a most unforgiving warzone - and remember that your words may be observed and judged at any time by service staff for their content and nature.
