Dawv - - - (Du-Aw' ve)
"Evidence of Adaptation"
Colonial heavy gravity humans that are frequently short in stature due to early environmental conditions.
Dawv are particularly strong for their size and build due to their environments.
The Dawv are descendents of colonial settlements sponsored by institutions on mineral rich high-gravity worlds.
Much of their culture is derived from the corporate responsibility and long periods of isolation required by
early settlements.
Like the old power structures of these institutions, the Dawv are particularly possessive, guarded, suspicious,
conservative, and even a bit paranoid.
They have evolved around the values associated with the protection and
development of resources and goods. Dress and clothing have remained likewise similar to the old fashions of
their ancestors, and many cases of Dawv re-integrating with terestrial worlds have
generated rumors of industry and strange dealings with eccentric little men of great wealth and
supernatural power - guarding treasures forbidden to mortal eyes - often secured with codes and riddles.
Due to the values placed on possession and commerce, the Dawv have repeatedly acquired a vast store of
pre-colonial technology in their emergence into space travel.
Dawv boarding parties are a common sight
in inter-species conflicts, even when the battles do not involve the Dawv directly. They recognize the
value of acquiring any technology they do not already possess, leading them to unlikely alliances with other
species and rogue agents.
