    Ethran (Etherials/Demons)
AKA: Ghosts, Angels, Demons. Ethran are insubstantial, cryptic, very rare, and highly dangerous.

    Origins: Unknown

It is said the Ethran caused the Cataclysm. It is also said that they were all killed during it, and all that remains are their ghosts. What is certain is the Ethran do not operate on the same plane or set of physics that most races do. They are energy made physical, able to alter reality at a quantum and molecular level. Were they as intelligent and concise as the Kai'Gi, this might answer many questions about the Cataclysm and its cause. It seems they are insidiously old, vague sometimes beyond reason, and possibly totally ignorant about the whole thing - except for passing moments of clarity that seem to come and go at random recounting terrible tragedies and brave events perpetrated by the Hue-Mann race during the Cataclysm.

What is clear is that there are several factions of Ethran; they are locked in a bitter struggle; four major factions exist; and they seem to disagree on one common point: "What to do about the Hue-Monn?" The Host believe humanity should be encouraged to live and given guidance. The Legion believe they must be destroyed, preferably by their own hand to prove their point about the justification of this act. Whether that includes all Hue-Monn and genospecies variants remains unclear. The Furies are neutral between the two, believing Hue-Monn passions will justly decide their fate despite interference. The Fates oppose them, although equally unwilling to interfere, electing to say humanity lacks the strength to oppose the will of either The Host or The Legion, dooming them to perpetual deadlock, suffering, and annihilation without any gain to break the cycle.

More realistically, the Kai'Gi have done a great deal to avoid Ethran influence and interfere with the Ethran operations. Whether they are related remains a mystery, but they are very unfond of each other, often roused to anger at the very hint anyone around them is aware of the existence of the other.

Due their abilities, Ethran have appeared in many forms. Legends of possession, supernatural acts, and even resurrection have been blamed on Ethran interference. Whether this is technology or 'magic' remains to be seen. On some worlds their appearances have created large religions. They have been hailed as Gods.

Equal accounts exist of them being challenged, fought, and even defeated. Despite their power, when they manifest they are not any more frightening than the Leupos, Sanguine, or Genosect. They exist within and obey rules similar, though not identical, to physics. As such, it has been theorized they can be defeated, even killed, although not in the sense we are familiar with.

Older Elan, Dracos, and Sanguine all firmly support eliminating the Ethran at every opportunity, although it is obvious some relationship may have existed in the past that makes these encounters very formal - and very fatal for one party - with nothing being spoken of it afterwards except a sense of mourning. Pursuit into the nature of this relationship usually ends in denial or violence, underlining some taboo shared by these elders.

Rumors persist the Ethran are a hoax perpetrated by the Kai'Gi to protect their hold on the remaining technology and influence other races through superstition and religion. The truth remains unclear.
